We Keep Families Close to What Matters Most—Their Children

Located in Stony Brook Children’s Hospital and just steps from the children’s hospital rooms, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and provide a space for moms and dads to rest, recharge, grab a snack and take a shower.

Family Rooms Serve Families In The Hospital

  • The living area lets mom and dad take a moment to rest, watch TV, talk to one another, or review information provided by their child’s medical team.
  • Volunteers serve fresh baked cookies and snacks for when families need a little lift or are hungry after a long day.
  • Whether families need a sympathetic ear, a smile or an encouraging word, RMHC New York Metro volunteers make their day a little bit brighter.
  • Lots of moms and dads can’t bear to leave the child’s bedside to go home and shower. The Family Room gives them space to freshen up just steps away.
  • Sometimes families sleep bedside and need a way to freshen up. The laundry and bathroom facilities are open 24 hours a day.

At RMHC New York Metro, the health and well-being of our guests, families, volunteers and staff are our highest priority. We are closely monitoring the dynamic situation of COVID-19, and we will continue to act thoughtfully to ensure all precautionary steps are taken.

RMHC New York Metro follows strict infectious disease protocols to ensure the safety of our families and staff.

We are in regular contact with our hospital partners and local health authorities who monitor the situation. We have implemented a more frequent schedule for cleaning and disinfecting our common use spaces and have issued guidelines and supplies for our families to do the same.

Should the need arise, we will take additional action to protect our staff and the families we serve.
