Season of Giving: 20 Acts of Kindness

Every year, hundreds of dedicated people visit RMHC New York Metro and donate to families with children in the hospital. Whether they are donating their money, their time or their talents, our amazing community is committed to enriching the lives of medical families. Thank you for continuing to support families this holiday season!

This Season of Giving, sick children and their families rely on volunteers to provide comfort, care, and support. Each of us can make a positive impact on the lives of others. Beyond monetary donations, it’s important to remember the gift of kindness is one that anyone can afford to give.

Below is a list of “20 Acts of Kindness” you can explore this holiday season! Whether you’re committing to one or many acts of kindness, you can make a difference. Which one are you going to do today?

Give a little love

  • Host a toy drive at your school, workplace, or place of worship
  • Offer to walk your neighbor’s dog or feed their pets if they go on vacation
  • Create a fundraiser with your child’s fall or winter sports team
  • Rake your neighbor’s leaves or shovel their driveway when it snows
  • Share your story so others know the impact RMHC had on your family

Making a difference for local families

Giving is an act of service

  • Shop at local and small businesses in your community
  • Offer to help senior citizens in your neighborhood with housework or shopping
  • Donate essential cleaning supplies to families at Ronald McDonald House Charities
  • Tutor or mentor students in your community
  • Volunteer at the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in Stony Brook

Creating communities of support

Each gift and act of kindness contributes to the well-being of someone in need. Your contributions can relieve stress, reduce anxiety, boost self-esteem, elevate someone’s mood, and improve their mental health. Giving not only helps others but also enriches the life of the giver. Give from the heart and your heart will be rewarded.
